Those who gave their lives from Yarm ______________________________________
LITTLE, Christopher Setephen. Pte G/6062 2nd Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment
Yarm1914 research believe that Christopher Stephen killed in action on 9 September 1916 in France. He was born in Whitley Bay in 1894 first son of Christopher and Eleanor Jane Little. Christopher, a manager of an insurance office had married Eleanor Jane Richardson the previous year in Darlington. They appear to have registered his name as Christopher Stevenson Little but census records have him recorded as Stephen. Three other children were born, Dora Harvey in 1898, Donald in 1899 and Alice Mary in 1900. In 1901 the family lived with Christopher's neice Annie Kay a school governess and Lizzie Green a servant. By 1911 the family had moved south and Christopher was an Insutrance Broker living in Linthorpe and Stephen and Donald were at Boarding School in Great Ayton.
